Puberty and its Disorders

Puberty is the developmental stage where children transition into adulthood, marked by physical, hormonal, and emotional changes. This period involves the development of secondary sexual characteristics, growth spurts, and reproductive maturity. Common signs include breast development in girls, testicular enlargement in boys, and the appearance of body hair. Puberty Disorders can arise when these changes occur earlier or later than the typical age range. Precocious Puberty is the early onset of puberty, usually before age 8 in girls and age 9 in boys, potentially leading to rapid growth and early bone maturation. Delayed Puberty is when puberty occurs later than the usual age range, often after age 13 in girls and 14 in boys, which might indicate underlying health issues. Both conditions may require medical evaluation to determine the cause and appropriate treatment.
