Diabetic nephritis

Diabetic nephropathy, also known as diabetic kidney disease, is a serious complication of diabetes characterized by damage to the kidneys' filtering system. Over time, high blood sugar levels from diabetes can damage blood vessels in the kidneys, leading to a progressive decline in kidney function. Symptoms may include swelling in the feet and ankles, increased blood pressure, and protein in the urine (proteinuria). Preventive measures include maintaining good blood sugar and blood pressure control, following a healthy diet, and avoiding smoking. Treatment may involve medications to manage blood pressure and blood sugar levels, and in advanced cases, dialysis or kidney transplantation may be necessary. Regular monitoring and early intervention are crucial to managing and slowing the progression of diabetic nephropathy.
